Veteran Oral History Program
Every veteran deserves the opportunity to tell their story in their own words, with dignity, accuracy, and care.
More Than an Interview
Our veteran-centered oral-history process documents service, relationships, sacrifice, homecoming, family life, creative expression, and the lessons a veteran wants future generations to understand.
Our Process
- Pre-interview preparation with the veteran and family
- A respectful, professionally recorded conversation
- Accurate names, dates, units, locations, and historical context when available
- Preservation of original recordings and archival-quality files
- Transcripts, summaries, descriptive information, and permissions documentation
- Options for educational, exhibit, museum, library, and public use based on the veteran’s wishes
Ethics and Stewardship
Participation is voluntary. Veterans and families should understand how materials may be preserved and shared. We prioritize informed permission, respectful representation, factual accuracy, privacy, and responsible stewardship.
Share or Sponsor a Story
Veterans, families, community partners, and sponsors can help us identify and preserve stories at risk of being lost.
