About Veteran Voices Collective

Veteran Voices Collective is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, amplifying, and sharing the creative legacies of America’s veterans. We believe that every veteran’s story—whether told through poetry, music, art, or lived testimony—deserves to be heard, honored, and safeguarded for future generations.

Our Mission

We exist to create accessible platforms where veterans and their families can share their voices, connect with communities, and ensure their contributions are never forgotten. Through publishing, digital archives, live events, and educational outreach, we transform individual stories into a collective legacy.

Our Journey

Over the past three years, Veteran Voices Collective has grown from a grassroots idea into a recognized hub for veteran storytelling:

  • 2022 – We began curating and documenting what was happening with Nelden J. Herron’s book, focusing on how he could take control back from a difficult publishing experience. This year marked the start of our commitment to not only preserve his creative work, but also to protect his rights as an author and ensure his voice remained his own.
  • 2023 – We devoted the year to healing and researching how to support Nelden in seeking justice. During this time, we carefully documented his journey—both the challenges he faced and the resilience he showed—so that his story could serve as a guide and safeguard for other veterans navigating the publishing world.
  • 2024–2025 – We formalized our nonprofit structure, built a dedicated board, and launched outreach initiatives, including community events, educational resources, and the early planning of a mobile museum project to bring veteran stories directly to rural and underserved communities.

Looking Ahead

As we continue to grow, our focus remains clear: to honor the sacrifices and creativity of veterans by ensuring their voices are preserved, published, and shared widely. Every project we undertake is rooted in respect, transparency, and the belief that storytelling is a powerful form of service.
